About DataTruth

AI projects rarely fail on the model. They fail on data nobody checked.

DataTruth is the independent second opinion on AI investments. We check the data before the money moves, and tell you in writing what it can support: sign, fix first, or walk away.

Starts with a 30-minute call. Commits you to nothing.

The pattern

Every AI proposal assumes your data is fine. Nobody has checked.

A board pushes for AI. A vendor writes the proposal. The contract is signed. Months later the pilot stalls, and the post-mortem blames the data: customers that didn’t match, deals with no invoice, history nobody could trust. Every one of those problems was there on day one.

  1. Month 0 The board pushes for AI Every competitor seems to have a plan.
  2. Month 1 A vendor writes the proposal It assumes the data is ready.
  3. Month 2 The contract is signed Nobody has looked underneath.
  4. Month 7 The pilot stalls The numbers don’t hold up.
  5. Month 9 The post-mortem blames the data Customers that didn’t match, deals with no invoice, history nobody could trust.

Already in the data on day one

The shape of the pattern, with months for illustration. Not a client’s story.

Why it stays hidden

Every system looks clean on its own. The truth is in the gaps between them.

The CRM is complete. The ledger balances. HR is up to date. Each system passes its own checks, so nobody sees a problem. But AI doesn’t read one system. It reads across all of them at once, and that is where the trouble sits: the customer finance bills but sales never logged, the deal marked won that never produced an invoice, the account still owned by someone who left last year.

Why nobody checks

Nobody in the room is free to say ‘not yet’.

It isn’t that the people around the decision are careless. Each of them has a reason not to look, and the reasons are built into how they are paid.

Where we come from

Adam O’Flynn
Adam O’FlynnFounder, DataTruth

We used to be on the selling side. We know how an AI proposal is written, because we’ve written them.

I spent five years selling AI, and two years working inside enterprise teams on their AI workflows, living with what had been bought. The projects that stalled rarely failed on the model. They failed on data nobody had checked before signing, because nobody in the room was free to. DataTruth is that check.

2014

The promise was big data.

2026

The promise is AI.

Underneath

The same foundation, still unchecked.

In 2014 the promise was big data. Twelve years on, the promise is AI, and the foundation underneath is still unchecked. The tools changed. The question nobody asks before signing didn’t.

What we gave up

Free to say no, because we gave up every reason not to.

An answer is only worth something if the person giving it gains nothing from which way it goes. So we made four decisions, and they hold on every engagement.

  1. 01

We chose not to sell AI, so we never need you to buy it.

  2. 02

We chose not to fix data, so we never need to find something to fix.

  3. 03

We take no referral fees in either direction, so nobody pays us to send you their way, and nobody is paid to send you ours.

  4. 04

We fix our fee before we start, so a ‘sign’ pays us exactly what a ‘walk away’ does.

Everyone in the room gains if you sign. We gain nothing either way. See who gains from a yes

How we work

Three rules, written down so you can hold us to them.

  1. 01

    Say the inconvenient thing

A comfortable memo that leads to a failed project helps nobody. If the answer is ‘not yet’, the memo says so in the first line.

  2. 02

Show the records or leave it out

Every finding points to records your own team can open. If we can’t show it, it isn’t in the memo.

  3. 03

Write down what we didn’t check

Every memo carries a scope line. A pillar the exports can’t support is marked limited signal or not assessed, never guessed.

The full method, including the weights, the bands and the cap that stops strong pillars hiding a weak one, is on the methodology page.

Who checks the work

The engine does the matching. A person checks every red flag.

Our engine matches the customers, people, deals and invoices across the exports you send. Every red flag is checked by hand against sample records before sign-off. We take a limited number of reads at a time so that stays true.

  1. The engineMaps every export to one model and matches records between systems
  2. A personReviews the close calls and checks each red flag against sample records
  3. Signed offThe memo goes out under DataTruth’s name, with its scope line
